Little Chickens

I never thought that I would be out picking up chicks... with Andrew no less. Get it...Get it! Picking up chicks. Yes very punny.
We bought seven of them. We're planning to keep three or four. We're going to sell the extras or give them to Mom and Dad. There are two Road Island Reds (reddish brown birds), two Barred Rocks (Henny Penny was a barred rock) and three Americanas(they lay blue eggs). They are currently living in the bathroom in the old ferret cage with their heat lamp. The lamp makes the bathroom so warm that we've been leaving the window open. We want to keep the chickens nice and warm but we don't want to cook them. Julius has been showing a sinister interest in the chicks. As soon as he sees them he goes from being very a sweet knucklehead to a complete creeper. Hence the chickens are shut in the bathroom.

Operation Walk-A-Lot

So stage one of my mischief-making endeaver resulted in a trip to Winco for ice cream and root beer.  Andrew made and mint chocolate chip milk shake. We don't have a blender so cleaver Andrew put a fork into his drill and vroom vroom milkshake. I was convinced that there would be milkshake all over the kitchen, but fortunately I was wrong.
Stage two of my adventuring is called "Operation Walk-A-Lot." This is partially meant to counter the icecream and is alternatively called "Don't be Fat and Lazy." I went on a long walk yesterday. I was aiming North toward  McDonald Forest but my road kept curving me around West and I only made it as far North as Winco, but I discovered several interesting little parks and foot paths in the Northwest hills.

Rejection

I woke up this morning feeling low. I don't remember my dreams but they must have been sad. I sorted through my email to find yet another film festival rejected Professor Quixote. I don't think the film fest option is going to work out for getting that seen. I suppose it's time to talk to the local places and put it up on Amazon. I guess I will also cut another trailer.

Too Much Time Alone

I've been content to mess around in the garden by myself or with Andrew for the majority of my time recently. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending upon how you look at it) I ran out of things that really need doing. Not that any of it really needed doing I guess. I've also run out of motivation to do... welll... anything.

For me, possible causes for lethargic apathy are as follows:
1. Sickness
2. I haven't left my home enough
3. I haven't seen enough humans.

I'm not sick and causes 2 and 3 tend to go together like conjoined twins, so I'm not even sure they are different things. It's likely that, like most humans, I need both for emotional well-being. I must be lonely or bored with my space though I don't really feel like going anywhere or seeing anybody, but I think that feelings are not always so good at telling a person how to fix a problem. One may just feel yucky.
Anyway, I guess it's social adventure time for me. I suppose I must go tell Andrew that I have solved my funk. Let us see something new and make mischief!

Adding the Fish Pond Spring 2011

Andrew and I decided to put in a fish pond last spring. Here is the bush that I call "the fish bush" as a big lump.

Here it is getting trimmed back.

Here it is in bloom with the pond under it.
